Another week full of activities! The first event of the week was dinner with Danish families. Our study abroad program arranged for us to go to the home of a local family and enjoy a typical Danish meal with them. It was interesting to see what a typical Danish home was like, as it was very simplistic and contained lots of legos (which is a Danish company). I was served a pork/veal patty (sort of like a hamburger) and potatoes. During the dinner my wonderful family gave me lots of information about Denmark and I was able to tell them about America. Before I left, my host gave me a bunch of tomatoes and vegetables from her adorable greenhouse!

The next day, we had a walking tour of urban gardens in Copenhagen. In these areas, the community can come together and enjoy their gardens. The land is really cheap to encourage people to buy it and make it into a beautiful garden. We were able to get up close to the cows in the pasture. Our tour guide was also nice enough to show us his own garden and give us some of his vegetables!

Finally, on Friday we visited the Carlsberg brewery. We learned about the history of the company and its economic importance to the surrounding area. It was very interesting to learn about how the brewery became one of the most successful businesses in Copenhagen.

P.S. Check out the travel page to see photos from my weekend visit to Berlin!
